Whether romantic movies are your cup of tea or not, rom-com 2020 will surely be another banner year for the rom-com genre. This year, it looks like we have a diverse collection of romantic comedies prepared to push the genre’s boundaries even further into the fray. Go through all the films giving us butterflies this year—and keep an eye skinned for updates as the month’s flicker.

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before: P.S. I Still Love You

to all the boys i’ve loved before: p.s. i still love you

I’m not a romantic movie person, but I found this hopeless romantic movie To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” on Netflix, and I must say it is a must-watch. Now its sequel is set to arrive on Valentine’s Day. In 2018, the first part’s banging soundtrack had me smitten; I hope the same from the sequel’s soundtrack. Lara Jean is getting back in the sequel with Peter Kavinsky, as their relationship gets to a test when another suitor shows up.

    Emma.

    Emma

Jane Austen’s classic and famous novel “Emma” has been adapted for the second time for the big screen. But this time, Anya Taylor-Joy is giving Jane Austen’s Emma a modern update. This movie is the directorial debut of Autumn De Wilde. I can’t wait to see this satirical contribution starring Anya Taylor-Joy as the queen bee of her social circle.

    The Lovebirds

    The Lovebirds

Kumail Nanjiani of The Big Sick and Issa Rae of Insecure fame? The two funny forces join for a romance, comedy, and murder mystery, and through the whodunit, they get dragged unintentionally embroiled in a bizarre crime. The journey to clear their names takes them from one hilarious – a circumstance to the next. It’s directed by Wet Hot American Summer’s Michael Showalter.

    The French Dispatch

    The French Dispatch

An all-star cast movie; the last nine movies were masterpieces; can you guess this auteur director? —Quirky Wes Anderson? Yes! Correct, and the movie is The French Dispatch.” The film has billed as a rom-com—but I’m hoping for a Moonrise Kingdom encore. The French Dispatch” this movie is a “love letter to journalists” located at “an outpost of a fictional American newspaper” in a fictional 20th-century Paris; It won’t be a musical (as was previously reported). It’ll be interesting to see how Anderson’s attention to detail will make this flick a success. I can’t wait for my ticket for this movie.

    Happiest Season

    happiest season

The 2020 holiday season will be a “Happiest Season” for LGBTIQ+ cinephiles. The gay rom-com stars The Twilight Saga fame Kristen Stewart and Mackenzie Davis as a couple. It centers on a young woman who wants to propose to her girlfriend at her family’s annual holiday party. The rub is her girlfriend’s conservative parents don’t know she’s gay. Clea DuVall directed “Happiest Season” will be on your screens from November 20, 2020.

    Marry Me

    marry me

The most meta-movie, “MARRY ME,” follows Bobby Crosby’s novel of the same name. It revolves around a singer who finds out that her rock-star fiancé jilted her, and she picked a random person off the street instead and married him in an over-the-top, flashbulb affair. JLO and Maluma recently surprised concertgoers with a duet of “No Me Ames” at Maluma’s Madison Square Garden Show, which she originally recorded with ex-husband Marc Anthony in NYC. So, this movie will be very meta and for sure enjoyable too.
