Do you know how coffee wakes you up in the morning? It does the same thing for your skin. You know your beloved coffee boosts your mood, but do you know this antioxidant-packed multitasker can also help improve our hair, skin, and more? Regarding antioxidants, Julia Hunter, a dermatologist at Wholistic Dermatology, Beverly Hills, CA, believes in doubling up. She says, “Drinking coffee is one piece of the puzzle; another is putting it on your skin.” Check out these pretty perks of this fantastic morning brew:

Depuff your Eyes

“If you put the coffee on your skin, it dehydrates and constricts blood vessels.” Says Hunter. Soak two cotton balls in chilled coffee to use coffee as a balm. Wring and placed it over closed eyes for 10 minutes.

Help ward off skin cancer

Research says that topically applied caffeine protects against some skin cancers at the molecular level by inhibiting a protein enzyme in the skin. In the meantime, protect yourself from melanoma by reducing sun and UV exposure,” says Erikka Loftfield, a Yale School of Public Health student.

Mixture 1: Mix 1 cup of ground coffee with half a cup of sugar and one cup of coconut oil.

Or

Mixture 2: Mix half a cup of sugar or half a cup of Epsom salt; if you want a more vigorous scrub, you can mix one cup of cooled ground coffee, one and a half Tbsp of jojoba oil, and tea leaves (from 2 green tea bags). Gently rub the mixture onto your body in a circular motion before stepping into the shower. After your shower, pat the skin dry and apply moisturizer.

Hair Volumizer

Mix ground coffee (quantity should be as per the length of your hair) with the conditioner you use. Massage it well. Then rinse it. The acidity of the coffee will smooth the hair’s cuticle, giving it extra shine.

Post-Sun Soother

Coffee can treat sunburned skin. Soak a washcloth in diluted and chilled coffee. Now place it on the sunburned area for 10 minutes.

Boost your hair color

Mix one or two teaspoons of ground coffee into a handful of conditioner, and after shampooing, lets it sit on your hair for at least five minutes to enhance the hair color. Genius.

Anti-Aging Mask

Mix the half cup of ground coffee with the half cup of cocoa powder and mix it well. Add 1 cup whole milk and 1 tbsp honey to it. Apply this mixture to the face. Let it set for 15 minutes, then rinse it. Dry your face.

Cellulite Buster

No matter how much work out you do—or even how naturally thin you are! — Truth is we all struggle with cellulite. Coffee scrub helps control the appearance of cellulite, as the exfoliation and massage help stimulate the blood flow and tighten the skin. To fight to dimple, mix 1 cup of ground coffee with half a cup of sugar and one cup of coconut oil and mix it well. Massage onto wet skin, then rinse it.

Soothe Your Feet

Whip up a DIY coconut and coffee foot scrub recipe and soothe your weary feet at home. Mix the antioxidant-rich coffee and moisture-locking coconut oil to remove and repair rough skin. Take one cup of virgin coconut oil, half a cup of ground coffee, and one to two teaspoons of vanilla extract, and blend them all. Now, prepare a tub of warm soapy water. Soak your feet in this water for 10 minutes at least. While washing, apply one teaspoon of the blended scrub to the feet in a circular motion and exfoliate the dead skin. Rinse your feet in warm water and pat dry—and feel free to use the scrub on the rest of your body in the shower, too.

Exfoliate your Face

A coffee scrub facial can brighten the skin, prevent clogged pores, and soften lines. Soak coffee grounds in a bowl of warm, filtered water, and add Epsom salts. Rinse your face with the water from the bowl, then scoop up the ground coffee and gently scrub the skin. Finish by rinsing with more of the water from the bowl.
